The HeartBright Foundation impacts the surrounding community by filling the gaps for chronic care patients. This is done through resourcing individuals by increasing their awareness of their chronic care issues and helping them to reach health goals through consistent care and access to providers. When people get involved with HeartBright they become responsible for sustaining programs that educate all ages in cardiovascular health, from teaching children battling obesity better nutrition and exercise, to the elderly new ways to self-advocate. HeartBright reaches over 4,500 men, women, and children weekly in the Greater Charlotte Area and it is due to the altruism of so many that HeartBright is able to continue to improve the health of our community.
Eight years ago, Claire Blocker founded the HeartBright Foundation and as a survivor of heart disease herself, she is determined to impact awareness about the risks for cardiovascular disease and the measures individuals need to take to be strong self-advocates. At HeartBright, patients learn not only how to self-advocate, but to cooperate with physicians to manage their health and future quality of life. HeartBright’s outreach is expansive as they have a cardiac resource center, educational classes in nutrition and exercise, senior and youth wellness, patient assistance, angel food hosting and so much more. HeartBright is dedicated to healing one heart at a time through education and cooperation with its benevolent team of doctors and other volunteers who offer their time to lower the number of people stricken by heart disease.
